Tasting Notes: Light copper pink colour. Delicate aromas of rose petals, candied cherry, citrus and traces of roses and damp earth. On the palate, complex flavours of cherry, redcurrant and white pepper. Everything is underpinned by a beautiful minerality and crisp acidity. The interesting finish brings out notes of orange and ginger. All in all, a serious rosato with a highly engaging character. 
 
The Estate: It has a rich history dating back to 1881 when it was founded by Cesare Pio, who was a pioneer in producing and promoting Piedmont wines. The winery has been family-owned for five generations. Cesare Pio started the winery with a vision to produce high-quality wines that would reflect the unique terroir of the Piedmont region. Over the years, the winery has grown in reputation and is now considered one of the top producers in the area. They own about 70 hectares of vineyards located in some of the best areas of Piedmont, including Barolo, Barbaresco, and other prestigious appellations. The vineyards are planted with indigenous grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto. 
The winery emphasizes quality over quantity, and their wines are often crafted with meticulous attention to detail. They aim to produce wines that express the unique characteristics of their vineyards and the Piedmont region. 
 
Suggested food and wine pairing: Goes very well with appetisers (antipasti - a selection of cured meats like prosciutto or salami, olives and bruschetta), salads (caprese with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and basil; with seafood, Niçoise with tuna), seafood (grilled shrimps, calamari), pasta (with seafood, with clams), poultry (grilled chicken or turkey with light herb sauce), vegetable risotto, quiche (with spinach and cheese or with tomato and basil), cheese (fresh goat, mozzarella, Brie and Camembert), desserts (fruit-based with berries or lemon sorbet, almond cake).
