The Estate: Domaine Schlumberger was established in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger in the town of Guebwiller, Alsace. The winery has been family-owned for over two centuries and is now managed by the 6th and 7th generations of the Schlumberger family. They expanded their vineyard holdings significantly over the years, developing a reputation for excellence in viticulture and winemaking. The estate is recognized not only for its wines but also for its commitment to preserving the heritage and traditions of the Alsace wine region. They are the largest privately-owned vineyard in Alsace, covering approximately 130 hectares (about 320 acres). The estate is noted for its exceptional terroir diversity. It includes steep terraced vineyards on the slopes of the Vosges Mountains, which offer varying microclimates and soil compositions ideal for different grape varieties. They are particularly known for their Grand Cru vineyards, with around 70 hectares classified under this prestigious designation. Notable Grand Crus include Kitterlé, Kessler, Saering, and Spiegel. They practice sustainable and biodynamic viticulture, reduced of use of chemicals, implemented cover cropping, and adopted organic practices to maintain soil health and biodiversity. The estate holds certifications for its sustainable practices, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship.

Cuvée Anne is produced in select vintages. The 2009 vintage, in particular, is noted for its high quality and aging potential.

Suggested food and wine pairing: Great with Asian cuisine (spicy Thai curry, Sichuan stir-fry, spicy noodles, kimchi, Moroccan tagines, Indian biryani, or sweet and sour pork), the wine’s aromatic and slightly sweet profile balances the heat and complex flavors in spicy dishes. Seared Foie gras pâté or foie gras, duck (Duck à l'orange, duck with a fruit sauce (like apricot or cherry), or confit), cheese (Roquefort, Stilton, or a creamy blue cheese), fruit-based desserts (Tarte tatin, fruit tarts, or a fruit compote).
